Azure Green Creative is proud to partner with the Ken Wilson Memorial Fund on launching their new website. The Ken Wilson fund is a great non-profit that supports the local community by allowing kids the oppurtunity to play team sports regardless of their financial means. They also support those programs in the community that follow their same principals.

The new site is built on the WordPress framework and will be easy to update and post news stories for the organization.

We're proud to be involved with the organization and look forward to their future growth.

Microsoft 'kills' IE6 use in the US, celebrates with cake

I hope this is true, and every client reads about it. Don't get me wrong. I don't mind adding hours to a budget to try and accommodate IE6. Since I build websites for a living, any value that I can provide that clients are willing and able to pay for is not something that I'm going to turn away.

Unfortunately IE6 is not the end of the unfortunate story that is IE. IE 7, IE 8 and even IE 9 are problematic. Firefox, Chrome and Safari are all modern browsers where the version number is not as relevant because of their shorter development cycle and more aggressive use of the browser to update itself.

I'm hoping for the sake of clients that this news is official. Certainly we have not done any IE6 testing as a part of any project unless it is specifically requested for quite some time. Unfortunately it has been.

A great example of using social media not just to influence people to make a purchase, but providing incentive to share it with their friends. Toyota's Twitter promotion basically says, we'll give you promotional discounts, as long as you tweet about us. How much? $500 for starters, plus $50 for each retweet within 48 hours for a total promotional offer of $1,000. You can read the terms and conditions of the deal here.

What makes this deal so great for Toyota? They are getting valuable advertising and exposure on one of the most popular social media platforms. People who take part in the promotion are sharing information with followers and because the message is sent through friends, it resonates stronger than those corporate messages sent directly to consumers.

Expect to see more of this type of promotion in the future.

Wordpress is a great content management system with robust features and it isn't just for blogging. We can help you create a site you can manage yourself. Imagine adding new content, video, photos and news ...

Do you have a website? If you have a one that is over two years old it was probably built by a web designer without the ability for you to make changes to your content. If they programmed it for you to make changes, its likely it cost you quite a bit for that custom coding. And even if you can make changes you have to continue to be serviced by the same vendor because it is too costly for another developer to learn the code. Also, if you want to add the latest and greatest features to your site they may have to build and integrate them from scratch.

Problems with not using a popular platform.

Requires expensive labor to make simple content changes.

Ensures vendor lock in so your service options are limited.

New features are costly to add.

Why we love WordPress.

With minimal training users can make there own updates.

Business aren't locked into a vendor, they can use a wide range of developers that support WordPress to solve unique problems.

If we can't solve a problem, there is probably a plugin or another developer that can.

Avoid vendor lock in!

We can't stress enough the importance of choosing solutions that are support by the community. The more your infrastructure is based upon widely used and widely supported tools the more options you will have in the future. Would you buy a car if there was only one service station that could maintain it and one source for parts. You website should be treated the same. 90% of its functions should be provided by the plaform and pre-built plugins and the rest of the customization should follow common standards and patterns. Unless you have very specific and innovated needs, WordPress with a small group of plugins will provide every common feature that you need.

For existing wordpress site owners that are looking for new design, customizations, and service and support. Azure Green is happy to work to support your internal team, or your current developer, with any portion of your site needs.

For new site owners, take a look at our recommended WordPress site configuration.

We don't take a logo re-design effort lightly. For starters, the Seattle Tarp Company has been doing business in the Puget Sound area for decades. They have built a reputation around providing quality products and service for many industries. They had performed their branding and web design in house, as many business try to do, but decided they should focus on their core business and bring in a professional web team. The company had grown to provide much more than tarps and the quality of their website and marketing didn't match the quality of their products.

The first step for Azure Green Creative was to create a new identity system for Seattle Tarp. The new logo is part of the identity and is easy to read and identify at all print sizes. The colors are reflective of their new "Green" approach to their product offerings.

The second step was to create a logo for their future transition to a new name that is more representative of their large catalog of products. STC Environmental Specialty Products.

Using the same color scheme we were able to supply two logos that compliment each other, and are moving forward with the development of their new website and brand collateral.

Take a look at the new design and check back for more updates as we expanded their online catalog to incorporate all of their products and bring their print materials up to date with the new brand.
